Chloé’s vision – Sustainability meets style
Chloé’s designer, Gabriela Hearst, keeps putting her own unique and feminine touch on the brand, all while prioritizing ways to help the environment. When she designed the Spring 2023 collection, she once again showed how fashion and eco-friendliness can go hand-in-hand.
Even though protecting the environment is important to her, Hearst doesn’t sacrifice how the clothes look or her creative vision to make things more sustainable. Instead, she combines her ideas of sustainability with skilled, traditional craftsmanship. The bags in this collection are effortlessly simple and bring back some of Chloé’s classic styles. Today, we’ll take a look at Chloé’s newest bag: the Penelope.
The Penelope bag – Modern yet classic Chloé
The Penelope bag is a major launch for Chloé for the Spring/Summer 2023 season. It has the clean details and high-quality leatherwork that Hearst has made Chloé famous for. The Penelope bag comes in different shapes and sizes, so it’s sure to be an important part of Chloé’s future collections.
There’s a Penelope shoulder bag, a flap bag, and even a clutch. What ties them all together is the unique coin closure, inspired by Chloé’s jewelry collection. The shoulder bag that was on the runway showed off Chloé’s skill with leather even more, with braided details and soft, luxurious leather. The bag has a slouchy silhouette that, even though it’s modern, still feels classic Chloé and has the brand’s famous bohemian vibe.
The Penelope flap bag is more structured and has cleaner lines. It’s made from strong, boxy leather in neutral colors, making it perfect for both day and night. The roomier shoulder bag is more relaxed and big enough for everyday use.
Beyond leather, the Penelope line also offers bags made from linen, raffia, and textured, chunky knits. This again shows Chloé’s commitment to reducing its impact on the environment. The bags are lined with linen, which creates less pollution, and the leather is sourced from Europe to minimize its environmental footprint.
